wtf?

This is where I store my photos of stuff. You can reuse these photos so long as you link to source and/or buy me a beer. Any photos not taken by me will have attribution linked to them :)

KittenDoS

Kitten denying access to bed and therefore, laptop.

"Within X meters". Define X?

So, back to college today, and this hilarious opportunity arose. I had been aware of this for a while, and found it amusing, so decided to snap a quick photo of it to share.

If x is a minus integer is it mandatory to smoke inside on the nice leather couch?

Dissecting the BT2700HGV BT HomeHub

A while back, I came into the possession of a BT HomeHub router/switch, manufactured by 2Wire. I realized rather quickly that if I wanted to proceed with a full and proper investigation of it, I would have to find a way to dump its firmware. Likely by finding some kind of serial output.

Thus far, findings: Inconclusive, as I only begun the dissection last night. Here are the images captured thus far :)

Front view of my latest victim...

I wonder if I can use the USB port for debugging?

First look at the insides. I suspect some fun things might be under those metal shields... Also note the CPU.

CPU closeup. Useful to have all that data on it :)

I have not determined what this unused connector is for yet.  Given that it is beside the phone line input, I believe it may be for an optional second phoneline.
I also found this interesting, perhaps later versions have extra parts here? If so, what is their function?
Figured I would take a look at the underside of the board, because it is pretty :)
This is all the connectors on the router at the rear. Looks like some room was left for expansion to me :)
Exactly, room for expansion. I want to know what connects here and why.
This looks to me to be some kind of debugging interface for the router. Possibly how firmware gets onto it, as it appears purpose built for some kind of connector to clip on.
I removed the annoying silver shield covers to show what is in there. Not an awful lot, but I guess it is vital stuff.
View inside the other silver shield. The ONLY explaination I have for said shielding is components being RF sensitive or something...
More to come as I figure out how to hook up a debugger to this thing...

Antenna

Long Range 802.11 Signal Interceptor
My (Second) favourite Wireless card. My favourite is still the stock Atheros chipset that came with my old netbook, but sadly that will not fit in the case of my new laptop. So, I use this instead. Supports monitor mode, and is perfect for sniffing out interesting packets - or injecting some :D

Freakin Laser!

The business end

Yes, it can be dangerous

Rear view. Recessed clicky button makes it lase.
Rather powerful laser pointer I happen to have. Pop's balloons and such, great for lighting cigarettes if you want to lose an eye.

All I need now is the sharks, and some veterinary surgeons...

Creative Zen

Underneath the screen

Back view

Front view
This old Creative Zen MP3 player (1gb capacity) has been knocking around for at least 5 years. It has suffered numerous falls, water, and other things, finally resulting in it being dismantled. It still even plays music!

Voiding the Warranty: Old Phone

The Victim, before I got the screwdriver out.

Disassembled into it's major components.

Not really all that much going on there, though I suspect the metal "boxes" cover most of the fun stuff. Further investigation needed.
Found an old phone in my room, a screwdriver was at hand...
